Lisa Vanderpump Opens Up About Her Experience Battling Depression

During a new interview, Lisa Vanderpump opened up about her exit from RHOBH and how leaving the show affected her mental health. According to the reality TV star, she struggled with severe depression and she decided to talk about her struggle during Mental Health Awareness month.

The celeb understands very well just how important mental health really is, which is why she chose to leave the show that made her famous in the first place.

Such a decision was definitely very difficult but necessary in this case.

While promoting her new project on ABC, Pooch Perfect, Lisa told HollywoodLife that ‘I found it really difficult, a dark hole to walk out of. Grief does take a while but you get through it and things start to get better and even on Housewives. All the fighting, it is just not something I look for and wanted to do with my life.’

It appears that her depression appeared after her exit from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where she worked for no less than 9 seasons.

As you might remember, the last season was quite controversial and filled with drama for Lisa and it was all because of a dog adoption gone wrong.

This incident left the whole cast divided and there was just no turning back, Lisa having no choice but to leave in the end.

But that was not the only reason! In fact, fans thought that she could pull through and stay on the show for a while but when Lisa’s brother passed away after committing suicide, her toll increased way more.

‘Mine [depression] was circumstantial grief because of something that happened. So for me, I needed to be proactive with it. I sat there and I had to start doing Vanderpump Rules and I was committed to that. I was running on four cylinders. I was not really where I should be.’
