This Sunday, several of fashion’s most prominent Asian voices — including Prabal Gurung, Susie Lau, Tina Craig, Allure editor-in-chief Michelle Lee, Bryanboy and Phillip Lim — joined together on the by-invitation-only social media platform to share personal stories of discrimination they’ve experienced while working in the industry.
The conversation was spurred by the #StopAsianHate social media campaign, which aims to draw attention to anti-Asian hate crimes that have taken place since the start of the pandemic and the anti-Chinese rhetoric that proliferated after the virus originated in the city of Wuhan.
Clubhouse is fast becoming a water cooler for conversations across industries. For the past few days, Asian discrimination has been a leading topic of discussion in many of its break-out rooms.
